Easter Digs: What Did Jesus Sandal Look Like?

Easter is a Christian holiday that celebrates the belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In the New Testament of the Bible, the event is said to have occurred three days after Jesus was crucified by the Romans and died in roughly 30 A.D.

The Man

Jesus, a noble character in the bible was by all accounts pure in heart and meek in character. But when it comes to His sense of fashion, it was as regular as they come howbeit very elegant.

Easily one of the most influential people in the world till date, information on what Jesus looked like, what he dressed like and his daily routine is vague. One thing that is close to certainty however is the fact that he more often than not wore sandals.

The Origin of The Sandals

As implied in multiple Biblical passages, Jesus walked in sandals. Thanks to the archologists, we now know what ancient Judaean sandals were like as they have been preserved in dry caves by the Dead Sea.

According to wikipedia, The Sandals of Jesus Christ were among the most important relics of the Catholic Church in the Middle Ages. They were donated to Prüm Abbey by Pope Zachary (741–752) and Pope Stephen II (752–757).

The Roman gladiator sandals in the middle age were worn with robes mostly by the gladiators and the emperors.

While we are celebrating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ by doing whatever we do for fun for the Easter season, we might as well celebrate the impeccable taste in fashion Jesus had while here on earth.
